Is pilotage compulsory?

Pilotage is compulsory in all ports and is provided by PPA licensed pilots.

Is fresh water available?

Fresh water is only available at the TAKREER Ruwais Refinery berths within Jebel Dhanna Ruwais port. Arrangements should be made by the vessel agent prior to the vessel's arrival at port. No fresh water is available at any berth within Das Zirku Mubarraz port.

Are bunkers available?

Bunkers are only available at the TAKREER Ruwais Refinery berths within Jebel Dhanna Ruwais port. Arrangements should be made by the vessel agent prior to the vessel's arrival at port. No bunkers are available at any berth within Das Zirku Mubarraz port.

Are crew change facilities available?

No crew change facilities are available at any PPA port.

Who grants Free Pratique?

The pilot who boards the vessel on arrival grants Free Pratique on behalf of the PPA.

What are the procedures for Pre Arrival information?

The vessel’s Master should send the necessary Pre Arrival information through their agent 72 hours prior to arrival at the port. An updated estimated time of arrival should be provided 48 hours, 24 hours and 12 hours prior to arrival. Further details are available on the port pages of this website.

Is purging or gas freeing permitted?

Both are prohibited within PPA port limits.

Are there any prohibited / restricted areas in the ports?

While vessels are loading or discharging petroleum cargo, it is prohibited for unauthorized craft to enter an area measuring 2 cables around the berth.

Who may carry out ship agency work in the ports?

Only registered shipping agents who have been appointed by the vessel owner or charterers are permitted to complete any agency related business.

What is the normal ISPS security level in ports?

Normally all PPA ports are at ISPS security level one. If the security level is changed, this will be communicated to all ships accordingly.

If the ISPS level is raised to security level two, who will sign the Declaration of Security?

In this instance, the pilot will sign the Declaration of Security on behalf of the PPA upon boarding the ship.
